Jonathan (Jono) is a quantitative community ecologist in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Canterbury. Jono’s research includes uncovering the causes and consequences of species roles in complex multilayer interaction networks, developing mechanistic models to improve the forecast of biodiversity under global change, understanding the structure and dynamics of biodiversity in river networks, and quantifying multi-scale ecological stability. He was recently awarded a Rutherford Discovery Fellowship and the inaugural New Zealand Freshwater Sciences Society Early Career Researcher Award. He is also an editor at Freshwater BiologyAustral Ecology and PeerJ.
