Mark is a senior lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Auckland. After completing a PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Mark worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Auckland, then at Northern Illinois University and the University of Montana. He then joined the Computer Science Department at the University of Auckland in 2001.
